ABOUT

Viper Black is a clothing line committed to authenticity. Artist and designer, Jedrek Speer, teamed up with his cousin Russell Vare on their first t-shirt line back in 1996. Ten years later Viper Black was born. The two set out to offer authentic art tees with sustainability in mind. The artwork in Viper Black is raw and revealing, based on found sketchbooks dating back to the 1970’s. Each piece reveals a portal to a time when art was real and imagination was free.

The name Viper Black is quoted from the song “Coxcomb Red” by Songs Ohia.

Sustainability Message

Viper Black's goal is to make the highest quality clothing with the lowest environmental impact. We feel sustainability is a way a life rather than a certain fabric or a hybrid car. We try to incorporate our sustainable lifestyle into all aspects of the production of Viper Black Clothing.
Materials
Viper Black uses 100% organic cotton. We have committed our entire line to use only sustainable fabrics. Organic cotton uses no pesticides, insecticides, herbicides or toxic chemicals. It is grown to preserve soil condition and reduce water use. All Viper Black clothing uses non-toxic, low impact dyes and water-based inks.
Production
We use the simple philosophy of reduce, re-use and recycle. We try to minimize waste and re-use materials every step of the process.
Suppliers
We strive to find local suppliers to minimize transportation pollution. By keeping work in Los Angeles, CO2 from shipping is reduced, as well as supporting US workers. We work with suppliers that treat their workers fairly.
Distribution
We minimize packaging materials required for shipping.
Future Plans
We are constantly striving to reduce our impacts and improve our environmental stewardship. We are currently meeting with suppliers to:
- To find additional sustainable fabrics that provides the highest quality look and feel.
- Switch to reclaimed dyes which create even less waste and water use.
- Switch to chemical free screen-printing inks.
